One of the first steps to getting what you want is knowing what to ask for, and when. Life has so much to offer, with miracles unfolding all the time, yet rarely seen or accepted as such. Asking is a learned activity, something that is a secondary step in life, not a natural, intuitive quality.
Asking does not come naturally. The evidence lies in the facts: we’re born into this world with very few means of communication. Our needs are addressed by others, in fact many times without our conscious awareness that something is amiss other than a ‘feeling’. Next thing we know everything is good again, and we go back to finding our toes.
As we grow and acquire more skills for communication we are taught how to ask. Asking can easily become a conditional thing:
- Asking for permission to go outside and play – we learn that success comes if we’ve already finished our homework and chores.
- Asking for a day off from work – same principles apply: getting caught up; making trades to handle your work while you are gone.
This is what I call “conditional asking”, and it is very worldly based with the principles of “the price we pay”. Here’s the problem with this conditional based method of asking:
- What if you want to grow into being someone greater than you have ever been before?
- What if you have finally realized that you are loved, and worthy of more love within your life?
- What if you simply want to practice the art of receiving?
How much do our limiting beliefs stand in the way to receiving the Divine gifts that are available to us every single day? When we carry a belief about how much work is involved with asking for simple things for ourselves its going to become harder and harder to ask. This is not a good direction to go in.
Give thought to what you ask, and how you ask for it: Remember there is a difference between asking between yourself and another, and asking from your Divine source. When we speak to our Divine source we can be as specific we want in our request, but then we must practice being receptive as to what is given in return. As we practice our spiritual levels of asking and receiving we can then transfer that skill into our worldly person to person connections. All you have to do is ask, and the response can take us far beyond even our own imaginations.
